Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  • The submission file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, or RTF document file format.
  • Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
  • The text is single-spaced; uses a 12-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
  • The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines.

Author Guidelines

The Editorial Board of the Pittsburgh Journal of Technology Law & Policy invites the submission of unsolicited manuscripts.  JTLP accepts submissions for its Spring and Fall editions electronically by contacting pittjtlp.submissions@gmail.com.  JTLP also accepts unsolicited manuscripts via Scholastica for evaluation.

Type of Content:

Submissions may include articles, essays, book reviews, case notes, or comments concerning any aspect of the relationship between technology and the law. If any portion of a manuscript has been previously published, the author should so indicate. On certain scholarly works, the Journal will publish concurrently with another Journal.  We welcome any content with a focus on the Pittsburgh region.

Article Format:

Authors may submit manuscripts in electronic or hardcopy form, though electronic submissions are strongly encouraged. Electronic submissions should be sent as attachments in Microsoft Word format to pittjtlp.submissions@gmail.com.  Authors should submit double-spaced, single-sided manuscripts with generous margins. We regret that submissions cannot be returned. Authors should retain an exact copy of any material submitted. All citations should conform to THE BLUEBOOK: A UNIFORM SYSTEM OF CITATION (Columbia Law Review Ass’n et al. eds., 21st ed. 2020). In addition, the author should provide their resumé or CV with their submission.

Submission Procedure and Evaluation Process:

JTLP evaluation lasts approximately four weeks.  Once an author receives an offer, JTLP ensures publication in a timely fashion, provided the author is available to communicate frequently with the Journal.
